A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She' s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

My thoughts…

What an great story. Perfect Chemistry is the first book in the Perfect Chemistry series by Author Simone Elkeles. I’ve never read a story by her before so I had no expectations going into the book.

I loved both Brittany and Alex from the beginning. Brittany has the best of everything but she’s tired of trying to be the perfect person her mother wants her to be all the time. She wants to be a normal teenager. One that doesn’t have to worry about her hair, makeup and what she’s wearing constantly.

Alex is her complete opposite. He’s a gang member and has followed in his late fathers footsteps. He joins the Latino Blood so his family is protected. Although Brittany and Alex start off on the wrong foot the chemistry between the two is apparent from the beginning.

I enjoyed every aspect of this story with the exception of one thing. There were quite a few instances where spanish was used and no explanation of the words were given. Don’t get me wrong, I love latin heroes and reading dialogue that includes Spanish. It’s pretty sexy. I’m just used to it being followed up by what the words actually mean in english.

I’m so happy to have found this series. I’m really looking forward to reading Rules of Attraction, Book 2 and Chain Reaction the final book in this series.
