When Alexis “Lexi” Moreau caught her husband, Jeff, sampling the sous-chef' s more intimate wares in their New York restaurant, she ran—all the way back to her hometown of St. Helena, California. Six months later, Lexi has no husband and no restaurant. But she does have a three-step plan: First, convert her grandmother' s bakery into her dream bistro. Second, ignore Grandma' s matchmaking attempts. And third, avoid Marco DeLuca, her ex' s commitment-phobic, distractingly sexy best friend.

In school Lexi was off-limits for Marco. After all, she was his buddy' s girl. But she' s still as smart and as gorgeous—and apparently as immune to his charms—as she used to be. Yet the simple fake romance they agree upon to dodge Lexi' s grandmother' s matchmaking plans soon turns deliciously complicated. And the sultry summer might bring together all the right ingredients for Marco to win the only woman he' s ever wanted.

My thoughts…

Summer is Napa is the second book in the St. Helena Vineyard Series. I loved it! Marco aka Marc is the towns player. He sleeps with a woman and then it’s on to the next conquest. He’s had a thing for Alexis aka Lexi since they were kids, but never let his feelings be known because she was in a relationship with his best friend Jeff. When Lexi returns to St. Helena she’s just been through a bad divorce and is looking to find herself again.

Immediately Marc inserts himself in Lexi’s life. He tells himself he’s doing it as a favor to Jeffrey but really he still has feelings for her. Lexi is weary of Marc. She knows his reputation and doesn’t want to start with romantic relationship with him. Unfortunately as times goes on things don’t turn out the way she or he had planned.

I really liked the chemistry these two shared. Even though they both had no interest in starting up a relationship things slowly progressed into one and I was happy about that. Lexi sort of tamed the player which made for a great storyline.

The sexual content is relatively mainstream and not overly explicit. The build up and sexual frustration with two share was hot.

This book offers a wide range of elements. It’s funny, heartwarming, and an overall a great read. I enjoyed every aspect of it. I also got to experience some of the tension between the secondary characters which only made me want to read the next book in this series.

Next up is Frankie and Nate’s story and I can’t wait to read it. Even you haven’t read this series you should give it a try. It’s a great contemporary romance.
