Better deeds than words teaser

I feel like I should pay Georgina Guthrie tuition or something. I definitely feel smarter in a literary sense after reading her work. Better Deeds Than Words is a sophisticated romance junkie’s dream come true. I’m sure I stated this in my review of the first amazing book in this trilogy, The Weight of Words, but I love how Georgina works some strange and wonderful magic with Shakespearean analysis to give this story so much more meaning for me, taking it above and beyond just another romance novel.

In this steamy sequel to TWoW we witness Aubrey and Daniel tip-toe through a sort of comedy of errors as they struggle to make it to the end of Aubrey’s college career without being discovered. As Aubrey’s TA, any impropriety shown by Daniel or suspected of them will put Daniel’s career in jeopardy as well as Aubrey’s academic reputation. One challenge seems to replace another as Daniel and Aubrey do their best to act professional and respect each other’s positions. The almost catastrophes will have you biting your nails just as the small wins will have you curling your toes.

This book was a euphoric experience. There were so many layers of emotion; frustration, love, lust, nostalgia, hope, fear, anticipation. BDTW really takes it to the next level in the romance and wit department. The emotionally charged exchanges full of love and longing between Aubrey and Daniel will drive your heart into the night because you won’t want to put it down. BDTW was like four seasons of experience all wrapped into one book.  I laughed, I cried a little, I got angry, and I was really hot and bothered. Symbolically speaking, BDTW is one hell of a Summer vacation. A few chapters worth of the most candid and romantic steamy scenes I’ve ever read in fiction warmed me to the core near the end of this book. Georgina doesn’t just prove it to Aubrey, but she proves it to all of us that the anticipated Daniel and Aubrey hook-up is really worth the wait… and then some.

The plot played out marvelously and was oh, so satisfying. All of  the players were thoughtful, entertaining, and relatable. BDTW enlightened my mind and warmed my heart, so thank you for that, GG.

This series holds a special place in my heart and if you haven’t read the first two books yet, you can purchase them both on Amazon for FIVE BUCKS for a limited time! If you’re able to wait to get your hands on this book (though I highly doubt it) than you can ENTER TO WIN below!

As much as Better Deeds Than Words is already music to my ears in it’s own right, Georgina so graciously provided us with a stellar soundtrack to the novel:

Excerpt from Better Deeds than Words

Daniel’ s grandmother held out the salad tongs. “Daniel, take more tomatoes.”

“I already have a few. I’m fine.”

She tossed three more tomato wedges on his salad plate.”Lycopene. It’s good for the prostate,” she said.

Daniel rolled his eyes and sighed.

“Prostate cancer,” Patty said to me in a hushed voice. “That’s what got Bradford—my husband. Never ate a tomato in his life. I’m convinced that’s what did him in. Although I read an article recently about the importance of regular ejaculations as well. Not that Bradford had a problem with that.”

I bit my lip to stifle a laugh. Daniel stared at her in stunned silence.

“You are having your oil changed regularly, I hope?” she asked him.

What the hell? Penny had said Patty was a corker, but nothing had prepared me for this! She was awesome! I blinkedback tears as I tried not to burst into laughter. Daniel, on the other hand, was choking on a mouthful of roast beef. I clappedhim on the back and handed him his water glass.

He gulped some and cleared his throat. “Jesus, Patty. That’s a rather personal question.”

“It’s uptight people who impede the distribution of important information. Don’t you think, Aubrey?”

“Oh, I couldn’t agree more,” I said, casting a meaningful glance at Daniel who narrowed his eyes at me.

He turned back to his grandmother. “Are you implying I’m uptight?”

“Implying? No, no, I was stating it as a fact. I happen to believe you need to extricate that rather long pole from—well, there’s no need to discuss the sordid details at the table,” she said.

Daniel put down his fork and looked back and forth between the two of us. “Huh,” he said, miffed. “Okay then. Allow me to put your mind at rest. My oil is being changed fairly regularly. There. Satisfied?”

He picked up his fork and forcefully stabbed a carrot. I hoped his comment wasn’ t intended as an admission that we were involved in an intimate relationship. Patty quirked aneyebrow at me and I held up my hands as if to say, “Don’t look at me.” She surveyed Daniel expectantly and he cleared his throat.

“Unfortunately, I’m decidedly, um, self-employed, at the moment,” he said.
