Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick' s life has been anything but typical. She' s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there' s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She' s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

My thoughts…

This has got to be one of the most beautifully written stories I have ever had the pleasure to read. I experienced so many feels while reading this book. I laughed a lot. And cried a lot. Like snotty blubbering tears. This book tore me up and spit me back out and I loved every minute of it.

Bright Side is easily one of the best books I’ve read this year. I can see myself reading it over again in the future. It’s one of those books that will capture your attention from the very first word and not let go. Even when you finish reading it you won’t be able to stop thinking about it.

There are several characters that make up this story that play a vital roll in bringing everything together. Not only did I fall in love with the hero and heroine, but I fell in love with the secondary characters too.

The best way I can describe this book is that it’s real. It deals with real everyday life issues. Ms Holden doesn’t sugarcoat the issues either. She let’s raw emotion bleed through into her writing.

Kate, Katie, or Katherine. She is this strong, courageous, dedicated, positive, loyal, and amazing young woman. She never took anything for granted and I loved her so much. Her nickname is Bright Side and there isn’t any other name that would describe her so perfectly.

I have to be careful here because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Like I previously said though, there are a lot of issues this story deals with. The entire time I was reading it I was constantly questioning myself. Asking myself how I would handle the situations these characters were faced with. I don’t really want to go into anymore detail. I just want to say that overall, I loved, loved this story so much. I cannot wait to read more of Ms Holden’s books in the future.
