Unforgettable passion . . .

Two months have passed since Karina's painful departure from James, the mysterious lover who awakened her darkest desires, and she'll do anything-anything-to locate him and win him back. Her search takes her to London, where she finds herself immersed in the world of fine art and forbidden pleasures. And soon, Karina meets another enigmatic man who promises to help her find James . . . for a price.

Unexpected pleasure . . .

Damon George is rich, gorgeous, and a member of a secret society that caters to the sensual thrills of the wealthy and powerful. Though Karina insists her heart will always belong to James, Damon is determined to have her, body and soul. By the time she finds James, Karina has been "trained" to please another. Will James reject her again . . . or find her more irresistible than ever?

reviewMy thoughts…

This book picks up where book one left off with Karina in London. As she searches for James she discovers a secret society that caters to the sensual thrills of the wealthy and powerful. (see synopsis) Here she meets Damon George. I’m just going to come out and say it right off the bat. I REALLY liked Damon. He’s wealthy, good looking, and he goes after what he wants. And what he wants is Karina. *sigh*

Karina on the other hands wants James. She’ll do anything to find him. Well almost anything. Once Karina is accepted into the secret society she does things with other men. Particularly with Damon. She doesn’t have intercourse with him, but she does participate in certain sexual acts. I can understand that for the sake of the overall storyline these acts needed to be written in. But I do feel as though she was cheating on James.

The majority of this book Karina is searching for James. There are twists and turns along the way that certainly kept the story interesting. I kept turning page after page to see what would happen next. Once I reached that last portion of the story things started coming together and then BAM shocker. Now I knew there was going to be a book three. I just wasn’t prepared for the ending of this one. Now I find myself wanting book three like now. I don’t want to wait to see how things will end up for these characters. I have to know now. 0.O

Unfortunately I’m going to have to wait until August 26th. That’s when book three entitled Slow Satisfaction is scheduled to be released.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. I think it’s a great addition to the series.

He pushes her sexual boundaries . . .

From the moment waitress Karina meets him in a New York bar, she knows James is different. Daring. Dominating. Though he hides his true identity from her, the mysterious, wealthy businessman anticipates her every desire and fulfills her secret fantasies. Awakened by his touch, Karina discovers a wild side she hadn't known existed and nothing is off limits.

She aches for more . . .

What begins as an erotic game soon escalates to a power play that blurs the line between pleasure and pain. Even as she capitulates to James's sensual demands, Karina craves more. She wants his heart, his soul. She wants his love . . . and she'll break all the rules to get it.

My thoughts…

Slow Surrender is the first novel by author Cecilia Tan I’ve read. I have to say that I enjoyed it. There were a few things that were awkward with it though.

I really liked Karina. She’s in grad school and about to graduate. She’s still undecided about what she actually wants to do with her life after she graduates. She meets James while she’s covering for a waitress at her sisters bar one night. The awkwardness tends to start right around this time when James asks her if she’d like to play a game. She of course can’t help but yes and plays along. What he asked her to do was sort of odd to me but I kept reading.

James. I liked him. He’s very secretive. I couldn’t help but wonder what his secrets were and I kept turning page after page trying to figure them out. At one point I thought I figured out who he was, but I had to wait until the end to be sure. I ended up being right. 🙂

As he and Karina get to know each other things again were a bit awkward to me. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I won’t bring up what they were, but I can say that I found myself shaking my head a few times.

The sexual scenes within this one were pretty hot. This story is an erotic novel and BDSM plays a big part. I thought the scenes were well written and I had to fan myself a few times while reading it.

There are a few twists and turns within the story that makes it all the more enjoyable. I love stories that keep you guessing and this one didn’t disappoint.

Slow Surrender does end with a cliffhanger. 🙁 The second book isn’t due out until the end of January 2014 and it’s going to be torture to wait until then.

If you are a fan of Fifty’ish style books then Slow Surrender should be right up your alley.
