Now that Nara and Ethan are working together to uncover the Corvus’ secrets, they’re confident nothing can stop them.

But while they’ve learned to anticipate dark outside forces gunning for them, neither is prepared for the insidious evil that slithers its way into their lives, nor the new challenges that surface so close to home.

Despite all the chaos and turmoil around them, the one constant they can depend on is their devotion and loyalty to each other. But as their relationship moves into deeper territory, sometimes the toughest battles are the ones waged within.

While the hunt for answers unravels more layers in the Corvus world, they also uncover new truths about themselves and their intricate connection to the powerful raven spirit.

When boundaries are suddenly redrawn and control shifts, Ethan and Nara will be forced to make choices that could bring them closer together or rip them apart forever.

You can find my review of Destiny (BKoD #3) here and a short interview I did with P.T. Michelle featured on Scriptland about self-publishing here.

P.T. Michelle knows how to write romance.

I have a problem with guys sprouting wings in books. It’s one of the main reasons why I didn’t get into the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. But P.T. Michelle does wings right! I LOVE the male MC, Ethan, in this series, wings and all. Doesn’t he look delectable on the covers of Destiny and Desire!?

Desire was the perfect follow up to Destiny for me.  All of the books in the BKoD series are  heavy (in a good way) and thought-provoking. But Desire is like the buttercream frosting on this richly layered cake of mythical and paranormal story telling. I think P.T. Michelle gave all of her fans exactly what we have been craving- an installment in this series that intimately focuses on Ethan and Nara’s blossoming relationship while still managing to further along the plot.

Desire picks up exactly where Destiny leaves off- right after Ethan and Nara fully consumate their relationship. This book builds in intensity every moment that Ethan and Nara share with each other. We witness them learn to trust each other more with the strange happenings going on around them and we are privy to Ethan’s thoughts as well as the thoughts of his Master Corvus.

Inara develops a new ability in Desire and it adds to the mystery of what her role is in terms of the Corvus and Ethan’s purpose. Because of this new ability we are able to see more of Drystan. If you have read the previous books in this series, you know what a unique and cool character Drystan is. After Destiny I was afraid that this Parkour loving hunk was gone from the series for good but lo and behold, P.T.  manages to surprise and please me once again by giving him a few moments in this book.

Desire also focuses more on moving along the story with Inara and her father and Ethan and his family. With scenes that are both heart warming and tense, Nara’s dad finds his way back into the family orbit and Ethan gives his parents another chance. I have my fingers crossed that things will turn out for the best.

While Desire was more focused on growing relationships than growing the plot, it’s still full of action and suspense. P.T. Michelle zooms in on different aspects of the character’s lives in this book and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hardcore BKoD fans will love this book and the depth it adds to Ethan and Inara’s journey together. The romance was developed beautifully and the tender moments between them are infused with passion and of course, DESIRE. The ending of this book left off with the perfect amount of tension. I’ll be climbing the walls until the next book is released.

When destiny is on the line, will love be enough to light the way?

In order to save Ethan, Nara gets pulled deeper into his dark world, where everything she thought she knew about Ethan and herself turns on its head. Ethan and Nara turn up the heat with bone-melting seduction and heart-rending moments, but surprising revelations, lies, treachery, betrayal, and unimaginable evil will challenge their relationship and their future together. As the stakes rise, encompassing more than just her relationship with Ethan, will Nara make the ultimate sacrifice?

Note: DESTINY is the 3rd book in the BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS series. It isn't the last book. There will be one more book.

There’s a darkness in Ethan that seems to be growing. Only Nara can save him.

Some Things Are Dark

Some things are dark–or think they are.

But, in comparison to me,

All things are light enough to see

In any place, at any hour.

For I am Nightmare: where I fly,

Terror and rain stand in the sky

So thick, you could not tell them from

That blackness out of which you come.

So much for ”where I fly”: but when

I strike, and clutch in claw the brain–

Erebus, to such brain, will seem

The thin blue dusk of pleasant dream.

Edna St.Vincent-Millay

I’ve waited a long time for Destiny, book three in the BKoD series. Inara and Ethan’s story has been flying around like a caged bird in my brain since I finished Lucid. I was so entranced with the characters and lore that P.T. Michelle created, that I couldn’t stop thinking about these books. With a lot of things, sometimes the anticipation for it can eclipse the actual something you are waiting for, and leave you feeling underwhelmed. Destiny overwhelmed me with it’s depth and uniqueness, and I knew after the first few chapters that it was worth the wait.

In Lucid (BKoD#2), I found myself a little frustrated with the new people making their way into Nara’s life because her time with Ethan was stretched thin. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the new additions and conflicts that unfolded in Lucid, I was left craving more of Ethan and Nara as a couple. I didn’t expect to be quite so satisfied after reading Destiny, and Ethan’s scattered appearances in Lucid made book three’s effect that much better.

Destiny picks up right where Lucid left off. Strange, new complexities thicken the plot, and threaten Ethan and Inara’s bond. In Lucid, Drystan, a boy from Wales, was thrown into the mix. His appearance was mysterious, and he quickly developes an affinity for Nara that left Ethan jealous and questioning Nara’s feelings for him. In Destiny, a girl named Danielle spurns this same kind of jealousy from Nara, and the tables are turned. Danielle has a connection with Ethan that Nara can’t compete with, and emotions run high between our new four-some.

In between relationship rifts and reconciliations, we witness Ethan come into his destiny, and Nara discover she is unique, even among the unique. There is so much more to their story than I could have imagined, and Inara plays a key role in helping Ethan navigate the ”pandora’s box” that is his calling. They discover they are stronger together than apart. They may not be able to out-run Fate, but they can fight him together.

Intense quandaries and milk and honey moments of romance between Ethan and Inara seamlessly alternate in this richly textured story. Destiny was lush with new mythology, emotional electricity, and characters that jump off the page. The twists and turns read like icing on the cake after the beautiful psychological portraits P.T. Michelle paints of her characters. Connections are made between events that only P.T.’s brand of writing could make so magical and believable at the same time. Just when I thought there were no surprises left, new discoveries are made and people with answers to this cryptic trip Ethan and Nara have been on come out of the woodwork. Destiny satisfied on every level a novel can satisfy on. P.T. is a master of her craft, and the Brightest Kind of Darkness series occupies a special place in my heart. Book four can’t get here soon enough.

And just to pique your interest, here’s a teaser from Destiny:

“I saw the way he hugged you before he left, like he never wanted to let you go.” Ethan swallows. “Does he make you feel the way I do when he touches you?”

“You are mine,” he says right before he nips at the skin on the top of my shoulder.

“I might not know why you have this feather, but I did claim you that night, Nara….You’re the light to my dark….I’ll always try to keep you out of the darkness, yet it seems you’ll be the one shining your brilliance on me, lighting my path no matter what.”
