My thoughts…

Where to begin with this review. While I liked this book for the most part there were a few things that I thought were unrealistic. It also has a “hard limit” element to it as well. Cheating is a “hard limit” for me. I don’ t like it. I don’ t think it’ s necessary to make a story good. It’ s just not a situation I want the characters I read about to experience. When I say “cheating” I am referring to the hero or heroine cheating on their significant other. Not the hero or heroine getting cheated on. Make sense?

Normally I would have stopped reading a book when the cheating began. In the case of this book I did not because I had heard great things about this story and I at least wanted to see why it was so highly rated. I found the plot to be very intriguing and I couldn’ t wait to get started reading it. Right from the beginning though bells and whistles started going off.

I sort of liked both the main characters.

The heroine: I think Hannah was naive. I found her doing things that a “normal” person wouldn’ t do. Ex: giving her home address to a complete stranger, because Matt was a stranger. She’ d never met him. Their first “actual” encounter (when they met in person for the first time) was totally unrealistic to me. Putting herself at risk the way she did is just dumb. Having unprotected sex with the hero is also dumb. Regardless if you have a IUD (okay, that is protection) you don’ t know the guy and you’ re going to expose yourself for the sake of “skin on skin” sexual contact? I don’ t think so.

The hero: Matt aka “The Cheater.” If I look past the fact that he cheated on his GF I can say I liked the guy. He was mysterious, rich, sexy… He’ s also hardcore when it comes to bedroom activities.

Together: I think they made a good couple. (I’ m just hung up on the fact that he cheated. Ugh!) The chemistry they shared was strong. The sexual scenes in this book were really hot and plentiful. Matt liked to talk dirty to Hannah and I think that aspect made the story all the more hotter.

Night Owl is the first book in the Night Owl Trilogy. This book ends with a cliffhanger, but I didn’ t find it to be one of those cliffhangers where I find myself sitting here needing to read the next book like right now. Truthfully I doubt I’ m going to read the next two books. Honestly there were just too many little things that rubbed me the wrong way.
