A hot and consuming New Adult romance about a wayward musician and the one girl who keeps him grounded…

At college, Rachel has a reputation for being a sarcastic flirt with a thing for star athletes. No one knows the real Rachel Mattson—except one person…

Ever since he helped nurse his sister' s feisty best friend back to health, pierced bass player Kai Nakos has been head over heels in love. But the supposed bad boy can' t risk letting Rachel know the truth—especially now that the two of them are back in their hometown for the summer, together for the first time since the months following that fateful night. Never mind that Rachel' s ex is back, groveling for her forgiveness.

Shaken by her ex' s return, Rachel finds herself turning to the one guy she knows she can trust. Kai is willing to hide his feelings for her, just to have Rachel touch him again. After all, this is only a temporary fling. Until it becomes something more. But maybe it had been more all along.

My thoughts…

The third book in the Between Breaths series, Whisper to Me, was an highly enjoyable read. I loved it! I think it fits in nicely with the first two books in this series. A series that is one of my favorites!

These characters were rich with emotions. I fell in love with the hero right away. There was just something about Kai that made me swoon. And Rachel. She has been a secondary character in the first two books. I was really happy when I learned we were getting her story.

Kai, his sister Dakota, and Rachel have been best friends since childhood. Kai was there for Rachel at a point in her life when her ex-boyfriend walked away from her after a tragic accident in high school. Not only is he extremely loyal, he’s also secretly in love with her. Unbeknownst to him Rachel is in love with him too. I really liked that there wasn’t insta-love between these characters. Their feelings for one another grew slowly overtime and that made their love truly believable.

I think it was interesting to watch them tip toe around each other. While they did a little messing around here and there, things stayed pretty tame throughout the book. They tried really hard to keep their attraction hidden from others so there was a lot of sneaking around. I’m not sure they did as good of job as they thought though.

Overall, I loved Whisper to Me. It captured my attention right away and held it until the end. I didn’t find myself skimming pages. The story just flowed smoothly and I just couldn’t put it down.

If you’ve yet to read the Between Breaths series you are seriously missing out. It’s a truly enjoyable New Adult Contemporary series that offers unique story lines, interesting characters, and happily ever afters.
