Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

My thoughts…

Warning: This review may be a bit spoilerish.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand I liked it. But on the other hand there were a few issues I had with it.

The heroine loathed the hero for half of this book. And then all of sudden it sort of turned into insta-love. I’m not really a big fan of this element. I just felt sort of confused. I can honestly say that I haven’t read a book where the heroine really had actual hatred for the hero. It was just odd to me.

Speaking of the hero. I liked Zan. He’s loved (insta-love wasn’t on his part) (sorry if spoilish) Charlotte since they were in high school, but never told her. I was actually really happy when they started hanging out together.

Charlotte aka Lottie blames herself for what happened to her best friend Lexie. She’s carried around a lot of guilt since the accident that caused her best friend to suffer brain damage. Not only does she blame herself, but she blames both Zan and his brother Zack.

Zack was something else. I didn’t really care for the guy at all. Towards the end things sort of spiral out of control for him.

The secondary characters I liked and found them to be interesting.

There is sort of a bombshell within this one. Maybe I should say it’s more of secret that’s being kept. This secret when it is revealed makes for a more interesting read. I didn’t really see it coming and thought it made the book all the more better.

The sexual content is comparable to mainstream romance. It’s not overly explicit in nature, but is well written. There’s not really a ton of it within the pages of this one though.

Overall, I can say I liked this one. There is a companion novel that’s entitled Faster We Burn that is already out. I’m planning on reading it at some point. It’s Katie and Stryker’s book and I liked both of them in this one.
