Annie Goodhouse doesn' t need to be warned about bad boys; good sense and an abusive ex have given her plenty of reasons to play it safe. But when she steps into her new role as outreach librarian for Cousins Correctional Facility, no amount of good sense can keep her mind—or eyes—off inmate Eric Collier.
Eric doesn' t claim to be innocent of the crime that landed him in prison. In fact, he' d do it again if that' s what it took to keep his family safe. Loyalty and force are what he knows. But meeting Annie makes him want to know more.
When Eric begins courting Annie through letters, they embark on a reckless, secret romance—a forbidden fantasy that neither imagines could ever be real…until early parole for Eric changes everything, and forces them both to face a past they can' t forget, and a desire they can' t deny.
My thoughts…
This is going to be a short review. I really liked this book. It’s the first book by this author that I’ve read and I wasn’t real sure what to expect. I’d read a few reviews and one of the things that piqued my interest was that reviewers and readers were talking about the letters that Eric wrote to Annie. With those letters in mind I dove right in.
I loved the main characters. I found both Erin and Annie to be interesting and I really enjoyed getting to know them. Upon meeting each other the attraction between them is strong. Not long after meeting those letters I mentioned come into play. They were powerful and masterfully written and really hot!! They made me fall in love with Eric right alongside Annie.
Overall, I liked the unique storyline. It’s different from any I’ve read before and I think Ms McKenna did an excellent job writing this book. The story flowed smoothly and kept my interest until the very end. The only thing I didn’t care much for was the cover. Don’t get me wrong. The cover is hot, but I don’t think it fully captures the essence of the story.
I really liked the letters. They were HOT! I had a few problems but it was a good read.
Yes, they are. Think they were my fav thing about the book.
Ahhh I so wish I had time right now to read this one. Love her books. My favorite was After Hours (It’s set on a psych ward and the hero is a bit of a dirty talker *swoon*) Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
I have After Hours and willing Victim to read. Both were recs. Thanks for stopping by, Anna.
