Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.
What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.
My thoughts…
Emotionally heartbreaking. Amazing brilliant. My favorite book of the year so far.
Guys, I cannot begin to tell you how much this book touched my heart. It’s highly emotional. I experienced so many emotions while reading it and I’m still emotional as I sit here and write this review.
The plot is unique. I’ve never read a story like this one before. The subject matter isn’t one that’s overdone. Me Before You is the type of story that will really make you think about what you would do if you were in Will’s situation. Actually it will make you think about both sides of the situation. What his family and friends had to consider regarding Will’s wishes. This book deals with a very real circumstance. One that numerous people deal with on a daily basis.
I’m not going to go into great detail about the story because I don’t want to give anything away. I tried and tried to figure out how I thought this book would end. I know how I wanted it to end, but really I struggled with what I thought would be the right resolution for everyone. I could sympathize with both sides of the issue. And although I didn’t quite figure it all out I can say that I’m satisfied with how things ended.
I think the author did an incredible job writing this book and she’s made a fan in me. I cannot wait to read more of her works.
Overall, this is an amazing story. One that touched my heart. If you love highly emotional stories. Stories that will make you really think about what you would do if you were faced with a similar situation, then I highly suggest you giving Me Before You a try. It’s a bit pricey. I normally don’t spend quite that much on an eBook, but I can tell you that it was worth the price and much more.
This is so far my favorite read of the year, too! So, so emotional and brilliantly written!
Have you read any of her other books? I haven’t yet.
I haven’t yet either, but I want to. 🙂
