***A Standalone novel in The Pucked Series***
I' m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance."
I' m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I' m a player on and off the ice. I' m the one women with no inhibitions want.
Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don' t know how to be any other way.
I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she' s the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that' s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She' s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.
I shouldn' t want her.
But I do.
I should leave her alone.
But I won' t.
Another great book from the Pucked series!
You might go in to this book thinking you KNOW Lance.. He’s all about the partying and the puck bunnies, yeah… NO. He’s a completely different person than we all thought he was. I’m not going to go in to too many details about this book because Helena wanted the heroine to stay a secret. Is it Tash, is it someone new? You’ll have to start reading this book to find out for yourself.
However, this book was definitely a lot darker, I think, compared to the rest of the series. It’s not as laugh out loud as the previous books. Sure, we see the rest of the gang here and there in this book, but not enough to make this a romantic comedy like the previous books. Lance’s story is not what I thought it would be. It’s very heartbreaking and will have you crying at times. When we are getting to know more about Lance, I didn’t realize he’d have something in common with Christian Grey..and NO, it’s not what you’re thinking. You’ll have to read it and come back and tell me what you think it is.
In the end though, Lance gets his happily ever after. 🙂
I really enjoyed this book, but it needs more Violet! I can never get enough of her!

I liked how Helena Hunting decided to mix the tone of the Pucked series up by going a bit darker in mood with Lance’s story. I actually did a dual format read of this one (listened while the whispersync audio highlighted the text read) for about 95% of the novel. I finished it via audiobook for the last bit since I could only listen while driving to work. I loved the advice chapter with Violet and Randy tons. Violet and Alex are special to me since they were the first couple in the series. I always usually can’t get over my “firsts!” But I’ve seriously loved all of the Pucked characters for their uniqueness and how they fit together as both a couple and in the Pucked group of friends/family circle.
