It was like seeing a ghost.
When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.
But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.
He says he doesn't care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson--love doesn't always win.
If only my heart would believe it.
Hannah is going through the motions of living after the death of her husband, Drew, while doing her best to raise their daughter Abby. One day, Wes, her husband’s TWIN, moves back to town and runs in to her at the grocery store. It’s like seeing a ghost and it freaks her out.
Even though she’s afraid that Wes being back will confuse her daughter, Wes manages to talk Hannah into letting him come over and get to know Abby better. From there is able to talk her into coming over to his and Drew’s parents house with Abby and brings that side of the family closer to Hannah and Abby again. Which is good because in the end it helps Abby with keeping the memory of her Dad alive. With Wes in the picture, Hannah starts to come out of the state of depression she’s been in sincing losing Drew. While in the process of developing a relationship, they also develop romantic feelings and they act on it, and continue to act on it. All the while, Hannah is afraid of what people make think of her getting on with her husband’s twin brother.
From This Moment is a beautifully written story about a heartbreaking loss that comes with a identical twin who has carried a torch all these years. A chance to move on, and a chance to do what one should have done years ago. This story will definitely get the best of all of your emotions. Hannah and Wes definitely come to some speed bumps in the story but in the end they make it over them TOGETHER.
