Saturday Night Shrine: Pepe Toth as Daemon Black

Pepe Toth is OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD.
When I was a little girl, the only alien I knew about or had a crush on was Alf. That furry little extraterrestrial stole my heart, and I still have my stuffed Alf doll. Now that I’m all grown up, I want my aliens to be hot and heroic. Alf still might be more height appropriate for me (*shrugs* I’m short), but I never want to imagine an alien as fuzzy and mole-like again. I have hope that real- life aliens will all be cover model worthy.
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed (amongst thousands of other women) with Daemon Black from Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux series. More specifically, I’m obsessed with Pepe Toth as Daemon Black. No matter how many book covers I see this Hungarian hunk on, I think the Lux series covers will always be his home. Pepe helped immortalize JLA’s swoon-worthy Daemon Black with his other-worldly good looks, and down-to-Earth charisma. Never has an ”alien” ever been so charming or attractive since Jason Behr as Max Evans from the late 90’s Roswell television show.
Maybe I’m not very creative, but Pepe is the stand in guy for several male MC’s for me when I read. I’ve cast him as Dante from Victoria Scott’s The Collecter, Marco from Page Morgan’s The Beautiful and the Cursed, and Jared from Darynda Jone’s Darklight trilogy. I can’t help it. I’m hooked. There’s no doubt that this is running through the heads of women everywhere when they buy a book with him on the cover.
The market for hot alien hunks isn’t very crowded, but I think Pepe as Daemon would stand out even if it were flooded. Pepe could give Henry Cavill a run for his money as Superman in the picture below. Pepe looks like Clark Kent with a tan, and this picture slayed me when I found it. I will definitely be sad when the Lux series comes to an end, and we have no more sexy alien covers of Pepe, but at least we will have a plethora of other book covers featuring him to gaze upon. Pepe Toth made me see stars on The Origin cover, and I’m already jonesing for the cover of book five.
