review

My thoughts…

I have been so excited about the release of this book. The Devil’s Contract ended on such a huge cliffhanger. I mean huge. If you read the review I posted for it then you may remember that I was a bit upset with the fact that the book ended with a cliffhanger and that as a reader I had no prior knowledge of the fact that there would be a book two and it sorta pissed me off. Sorry Claire!

Anyway, now that I’ve read The Sinner’s Bargain I can honestly say that it was definitely worth the wait. There are so many characters that play a part in the overall story besides Colin and Amara. Some I liked, while others not so much. Throughout it all though, I loved, loved, loved Colin. Even though at times he could be an ass I loved how much he loved Amara.

There are so many things going on within the pages of this story. I found great pleasure in trying to figure out what would happen. Most of the time I wasn’t quite sure who Amara could trust. All of the characters seemed suspect. I think it was because of this that it made this story that much more enjoyable. Ms Contreras will keep you guessing. You continually try to figure out how it’s all going to end. And when the end gets here you might be very surprised at how things turn out.

The sex is back full force in this book. Colin and Amara scorch up the sheets. The sex scenes are hot, plentiful and well written.

Overall, I loved both of these books. I can see myself reading them again in the future. I’m not sure what’s up for Ms Contreras, but I’m really looking forward to reading her next book.

He gave them a choice.

She took it.

He made her promise two years.

She should have known there was a catch.

My thoughts…

*WARNING: This book ends with a cliffhanger.*

I am so mad right now. Seriously. I stayed up ALL night reading this book. First I’ll start off by saying that the synopsis for this one is pretty vague so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Though this being a book by Claire Contreras I knew I had to read it. So…here’s why I’m mad. This book ends with a cliffhanger. Nowhere in the synopsis is there a note stating that this ends with a cliffhanger. It’s not marked on Goodreads as more than one book. Ugh! So frustrated right now!!! I don’t mind cliffhangers. I just like to be aware of them beforehand.

Okay. So… This book was freaking amazing. There are so many twists and turns. The suspense part of it is unbelievable. It’s like I was sucked into this book from the first page and couldn’t put it down. There wasn’t a time where I skimmed. It definitely kept me guessing as to what would happen next. I just loved this one.

The storyline was unique and the book was well written. I really liked the characters and enjoyed slipping into their world.

The sexual scenes in the first part of the book were really hot. About halfway through though things cooled a bit.

Overall, I loved this one. I’m still frustrated that it ended with an unexpected cliffhanger. I wish I would have known this. I would more than likely held off reading it until the second one was close to being released.

In the past, I've always been given everything I've wanted, but nothing that I truly needed. I've experienced a lot of things in my twenty-five years, everything except the one thing I want. It's the one thing that can’t be bought. It can't even be taken, it has to be given. And nobody has ever given it to me, not really anyway.

Not until him.

Music is the center of both our lives, but as he found his place in it, I lost my way. He soared, while I spiraled down a destructive path.
I lost myself in more ways than I can count.

The ironic thing is that I didn’t realize how lost I was until he found me.

And now that he has, I have to wonder if he'll stay around long enough to catch me.

My thoughts…

Finally! A new book from author Claire Contreras. I loved her first two books (There is No Light in Darkness & Darkness Before Dawn) and couldn’t wait to read this one. The synopsis drew me in and I couldn’t wait to get started.

Catch Me is a different style book from the first two she’s published or at least I think so. Whereas the two Darkness books were suspenseful, Catch Me was more a standard contemporary.

The plot for was quite intriguing and the characters were likable for the most part. I sort of feel like Brooklyn & Nick’s relationship was a little rushed though. There was some confusion on my part about their previously knowing each other. Things didn’t quite add up there. I can’t really explain it without giving away spoils so I’ll just leave it at that.

I think Brooke and Nick were great together. Brooke having grown up the way she did with her parents I think she was starved for attention and Nick was able to give her plenty. Brooke’s mom was just a bitch and her dad wasn’t much better. I felt bad for her.

Overall, as far as the storyline goes I liked this one for the most part. I’m hoping that Ms Conteras will write books for both of Nick’s brothers, Damien & Isaac. I found both of them to be interesting and think they would both make great heroes.

Is love ever enough?

Faced with obstacles she could have never imagined, Blake is brought to darkness and back by forces in her past she never knew existed.
Desperate to stay connected to the only thing he loves, Cole is forced to revisit his past and align himself with the people who knew about Blake’s disappearance.
Separation has forced both Blake and Cole to learn how to live under the worst circumstances, each of them alone in their own hell.

When they reunite, can they be the same two people they were before darkness swept upon them?
Told in separate points of view, Darkness Before Dawn is the continuation of Blake and Cole’s fight to make it to the light.

My thoughts…

What a way to end a two book mini series. I loved this one as well. Cole has got to be one of my favorite book boyfriends EVER. He’s simply amazing!

There are many twists and turns with this story that will keep you guessing on why things are the way they are. However, I recommend that you read the first book to know exactly what’s going on with all the characters.

When you get to the very end I think you’ll be surprised with how things turn out. I love a good suspenseful story and this one didn’t disappoint.

The sexual elements in this one are comparable to adult mainstream. I don’t think they were as steamy as the first book, but having said that the scenes were well written and still hot.

There were a few times that I thought Blake went a little bit overboard with her emotions. I couldn’t understand why she would doubt Cole’s love for her. Like I said before Cole is amazing. I really loved him.

Overall this is one of the best series I’ve read so far this year. Ms. Contreras has gained a new fan for sure. I really like her writing style and hope to read her future works.
