Save me and I'll save you...

My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole.
My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.

I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.

I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.

Dare DuBray.

He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.

He has the power to destroy me.

Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.

Why? Because of a secret.

A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.

You won’t either.

My thoughts…

First I’d like to thank Courtney Cole and Badass Marketing for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book before release day. I truly appreciate your trust in me with this “secret” project. Well, I call it secret since not much has been released about it.

Now onto my review.

WOW! I’ll say it again. WOW! What an amazingly, wild, mind fucking ride. This story is intense, and gritty, and angsty, and totally amazing. I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again now. I’m a very analytical type person. When I read books my mind is constantly trying to figure out what’s going to happen. I look for and try too collect clues. Constantly trying to piece them together. I’m not going to brag, but I’m usually pretty good at figuring things out before then end. That was not the case with Nocte. The ending completely caught me off guard. I totally didn’t see it coming. I was completely shocked and then a little bit disappointed when I realized that this book is in fact the first book in a trilogy. But, I’m good with the HFN (Happy for now) ending. I’m looking forward to seeing what Ms Cole has in store for us in the next book which is entitled Verum. I don’t have an expected release date for it yet, but will try to update this post when it becomes available.

Also, I’m not going to go into any details about this book. I think as a reader you’ll appreciate it more if you go into this one with only the clues Ms Cole has released. I know there’s a limited amount of information out there, but trust me that makes the story that much more intriguing.

Overall, I loved this book and the way it was written. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Ex-Army Ranger, Brand Killien, has always been good.

A good friend, a good soldier, a good everything. .
The problem is, good hasn’t gotten him anything but a crushed heart.

So after licking his wounds, he decides to move on. And moving on doesn’t include being good anymore.

Bad sounds so much better.

Jaded and detached, Brand is determined to never open himself up to anyone again. It’s not worth the pain. Instead, he becomes closed, hardened, aloof.

But then he’s called back home for a family emergency… a family that he is estranged from. A family that he put out of his mind a long time ago for very good reasons…reasons that involve secrets and pain. Reasons he tried hard to forget.

But home is where the heart is, and it just might be where Brand finds his again.

Why? Because home is where Nora Greene is. A fiery, red-headed spitfire, Nora is a thing from his past. A beautiful, feisty thing. When Brand left, she was away at boarding school.

But she’s back now.

My thoughts…

I’ve been so excited about this book. I absolutely adore Brand. He’s simply amazing. He’s loyal, brave, loving and so very strong. In the last book Jacey sort of broke his heart. I’m not gonna lie. She seriously pissed me off. I wanted her and Brand to be together, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. And now that I’ve read Until We Fly I’m ok with that because I think Nora is his perfect match. I loved sinking into their world and experiencing their relationship as it grew throughout the book.

These two have both been through a lot in their lives. Both have experienced hard times in their childhood. Neither one of them deserved to be treated the way they were treated when they were young, but I do think if any positive could come from it it made them very strong people.

With both Brand and Nora dealing with their issues throughout this story things stay really interesting. A lot of secrets are revealed. Some I sort of guessed. While others I didn’t see coming. Ms Cole did a great job with the flow of this book. It sucked me in and didn’t let go until the end.

The smexy times are comparable to adult mainstream. Though they aren’t explicit in nature they are still hot to read and well written.

Overall, I really liked this book. Its not my favorite of the series, but it is truly a great read. I hope that if you haven’t given this series a try yet that you will do so. I love all of these characters and hope you will too.

Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.

Sometimes, before we fall... we fly.

My thoughts…

Before We Fall is the fourth book in the amazing Beautifully Broken series. I loved, loved, loved this one. While Jacey was a secondary character in previous books, Dominic aka Dom is new to the series. I was sort of disappointed that Jacey and Brand didn’t get a book, but about halfway through this one I was happy that they didn’t.

Jacey is known for picking the wrong guy. She does this all the time. She’s the type of person who thinks she can fix everything and Dominic has issues that need fixing. I think Jacey was good for Dom. She was able to break through his tough exterior and help him deal with some of his issues. One thing I did notice about Jacey is that her character seemed much more mature than most 24 year olds.

Dominic. Omigosh! I loved Dom!!! As I said before he has some major issues going on. Although he’s not one for relationships there is something about Jacey that pulls him to her. He finds himself not only attracted to her, but he’s also drawn to her. He doesn’t understand what it is about her. He fights his attraction, but in the end it’s too strong and the poor boy doesn’t stand a chance. If I could describe Dominic in a few words they would be: intense, arrogant, and overall drop dead sexy.

Before We Fall is a highly emotional read. I laughed, cried, and sobbed snotty tears while reading it. There is a element of suspense within the pages and I kept trying to figure out what was going to happen. Ms Cole did a good job of not giving anything away until the big reveal. I was sort of shocked when the truth came out. I didn’t see that twist coming.

The sexual scenes were really hot, well written, and plentiful. I had to fan myself several times. Having read the previous books in the series I can honestly say that this book is by far the hottest.

Overall I really enjoyed this one. It held my attention until the very end. I haven’t heard anything about upcoming books in this series. I’m hoping that Brand will get his own book and perhaps Sin & Duncan (Dom’s brothers) will as well. I guess we’ll have to wait to see what the future holds.

Dominic Kinkaide does bad, bad things.

As a 24-year old actor with the world on a string, not many women tell Dominic no. In a life where no doesn’t exist, he stretches the boundaries between what is right, what is wrong and what is downright depraved. Dark and damaged, Dom wants no commitments.

He wants no attachments.

He only wants to disappear into the taboo, into a place where he feels something.

But when the aching need to disappear into the darkness is the only thing he has left, Dominic flounders. In a world that is hollow and sexual, without a guiding light or a reason to breathe, Dominic is lost and broken. He knows he’ll never be fixed. So he makes a decision.

If he’s going to hell, he might as well make it worth it.

UNTIL WE BURN is a novella (book 2.5 in the Beautifully Broken series) intended to introduce Dominic Kinkaide, to enhance the reading experience of BEFORE WE FALL (Book 3). Please note that because Dom's lifestyle is wild, this novella contains graphic content and adult material.

My thoughts…

Although this is a short novella I really enjoyed it. Until We Burn gives the reader a little bit of insight into who Dominic Kinkaide is. You’ll see how he views things through his eyes. I found him to be a very interesting guy.

Dominic seems like the typical Hollywood movie star. Rich and good looking he’s used to getting his way. Which he does, but he also has a secret or should I say secrets that he’s keeping and I can’t wait to find out what those are.

At first I was sort of curious as to why the author would release a novella about Dominic since he’s getting his own book, but I think it was necessary in order to see what type of guy he is. I know it’s made me want to read his book all the more.

Overall, this is a great novella. The ended has left me hungry for more of Dominic and I can’t wait to read his full story.

26-year old Gabriel Vincent is a badass hero. Or he used to be, anyway. As an ex-Army Ranger, Gabe never thought he needed anyone. But after one horrible night in Afghanistan scars him in a way that he can't get past, he needs someone who can help him heal...even if he doesn't realize it.

25-year old Madison Hill doesn't need anybody...or so she thinks. She grew up watching her parents' messed-up abusive relationship and she knows there's no way in hell that she's ever letting that happen to her.

They don't know it in the beginning, but Gabriel and Madison will soon develop a weakness: Each other.

But Gabriel's got a secret, a hidden monster that he's afraid Maddy could never overcome... And Maddy's got issues that she's afraid Gabe will never understand. They quickly realize that they need each other to be whole, but at the same time they know that they've got demons to fight.

And the problem with demons is that they never die quietly.

My thoughts…

I loved Madison in the first book and I’m happy that she got her own story. She’s really strong and I liked her a lot. She gave up her life in New York so she could come home and take over the family business when her parents were killed in a deadly car accident.

Gabriel. He is bad ass and I really liked him. He suffers from PTSD and has nightmares every night. He blames himself for the death of a fellow soldier, but refuses to get help. I felt bad for him. All he ever wanted to be was a soldier and that was taken away from him after one deadly night in Afghanistan.

Together I thought Maddy & Gabe made a good couple. They both have issues they’re dealing with, but I think that’s one of the reasons I thought they were good for each other. I wanted them to work through their demons and still be standing together on the other side.

There are a few twists and turns throughout this one which made it all the more enjoyable. And while I know why certain things happened for a reason, I was still sort of shocked when they happened.

Overall, I really enjoyed If You Leave. Up next is book three which is entitled Before We Fall. It will be Jacey’s story and I’m looking forward to reading it. I was sort of hoping it would be Jacey & Brands book, but alas it is not. :/

24-year old Pax Tate is an asshole.

He’s a tattooed, rock-hard bad-boy with a bad attitude to match.

But he’s got his reasons.

His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with guilt although he doesn’t understand why. What he does know is that he and his dad are left alone and with more issues than they can count.

As Pax grew up, he tried to be the kid his father always wanted; the perfect golden boy, but it didn’t work. His dad couldn’t overcome his grief long enough to notice and Pax couldn’t keep up the impossible perfect façade. So he slipped far, far from it.

Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the ugliness, the black void that he doesn’t want to deal with. If he pretends that the emptiness isn’t there, then it isn’t, right?

And it’s never more apparent than when he meets Mila. Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air to his hardened frown, the beauty to his ugly heart. He doesn’t know how to not hurt her, but he quickly realizes that he’s got to figure it out because he needs her to breathe.

When memories of his mother’s death resurface from where he’s repressed them for so long, Mila is there to catch him when the guilt starts making sense. Mila is the one…the one who can save him from his broken troubled heart; from his issues, from the emptiness.

But only if he can stop being an asshole long enough to allow it.

He knows that. And he’s working on it.

But is that enough to make her stay?

My thoughts…

Omigosh this was an amazing read. I love it so! Clearly one of my favorites so far this year. This one is highly emotional. I both laughed and cried while reading it.

Pax. He’s sexy and comes with a lot of baggage. He doesn’t deal with his problems. Instead he abuses drugs and alcohol to feel numb. He lost his mother when he was seven years old and instead of dealing with the loss he’s ignored his feelings all these years.

Mila. I loved her. When she finds Pax in trouble and on the verge of dying from a drug overdose she can’t walk away. She has to try to save his life.

A few days later when she visits him in the hospital to make sure that he’s alright, Pax finds himself fascinated with her.

The attraction between these two is apparent from the beginning. Both are different but they have a few things in common. I found myself wanting them to get together and give a relationship a go.

A relationship is something Pax has never had. It’s all new to him but he tries really hard to not hurt Mila.

If You Stay was a fast read for me and I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know how things would turn out for them. I wanted to see if Mila could help Pax deal with his inner demons and come out on the other side a better man.

The sexual scenes were not only well written but very hot. *fans self* Pax is definitely swoon worthy.

Up next is Madison’s story and I can’t wait to read it!
