Rain Wilson isn' t ever going to love again.

It' s a promise she made the day her boyfriend died in a water park accident, one she still blames herself for. Now she' s a senior lifeguard in a new town with a new pool and she' s just going to keep her head down and everyone safe.

Until a mysterious guy follows her into the waves at the pre-season bonfire and kisses her senseless. It' s just one mistake, and Rain is determined to put it behind her, until the dark haired, blue eyed hottie turns out to be her new co-supervisor Knight Mcallister.

Knight is hot, tatted, and carrying baggage of his own. He' s not happy about having Rain for a co-supervisor, and he' s even less happy about his attraction to her.

But between lifeguard drama, hot underwater kisses, and a growing attraction between them that can' t be stopped, Knight and Rain are being pulled deeper into their pasts, and realizing that sometimes too much broken can make a relationship impossible.

Then again sometimes it' s the broken parts of us that fit together best.

My thoughts…

I liked Deeper. It’s a pretty good read for a debut novel. There were a few tiny things I didn’t care for, but for the most part I enjoyed reading this one. The characters were very likable for the most part and I enjoyed getting to know Rain and Knight. Speaking of Knight…what a different and unique name. I like it. Both Rain and Knight have issues. Even though they both have issues they are dealing with, I thought they would be good for each other. I thought maybe they could help each other heal.

Rain. Rain lost her boyfriend in a sort of freak accident. She blames herself for his death. This changes her as a person. She vows to never fall in love and to never have sex because her boyfriend lost his life and he won’t be able to experience either of those things. To me that was a bit odd.

She also vows to keep everyone at her work safe. And while I can understand why she doesn’t want anyone to get hurt on her watch, I think she acted reckless most of the time. It was like she didn’t even care if she had to die in the process of saving somebody.

Knight. He’s a protector. He lost his girlfriend after she committed suicide. He also blames himself. He feels he failed her because he didn’t protect her one night where she was raped by an unknown person. If you’re wanting to know who this person is I’m sorry to tell you that their identity isn’t disclosed. 🙁

Back to Knight. I liked him from the beginning. Although he seemed to want to be in control over what Rain could or couldn’t do at work. I think he was a bit smothering over her, but again Rain did act reckless a lot of the time so I can see where he would act that way some of the time.

I can see why Deeper is considered a New Adult novel because of the ages of the main characters and because they attend college when it’s off season at the water park they work at. At times I felt like I was reading a young adult novel though. Some of the dialogue seemed high school’ish and was sort of a turn off.

The sexual content of this one is pretty much PG related. There are times when what the characters are doing is referred to as making love when in all actuality this is not the case. I couldn’t help but be a little bit disappointed that in the end they never really did come together that way.

I can honestly say I liked Deeper. Even though there where a things I didn’t care for overall this was a pretty good read. I’d look forward to checking out this authors work in the future.
