Aubrey is embarking on a bucket list trip around the world, the last wish of her Aunt Ally. It was supposed to be the trip Ally would take when she got better. Now it's just a chance for Aubrey to say goodbye.
Adam escapes in his solo trips overseas, working just enough to fund the next one. When the opportunity to circle the globe falls in his lap he can't refuse. The only catch, he won't be traveling alone this time.
Unable to hide from each other Adam's overprotective nature thwarts Aubrey's desire to find her own way. Can they move past initial assumptions to find something better?
I loved this one. Author Carey Heywood takes the reader on a journey around the world. The characters which are rich with emotions go to places like London, Beijing, Australia, and many others. It was fun learning about the different places they visited and experiencing it through the eyes of these characters.
Speaking of characters… I really liked Aubrey and Adam. When you first meet Aubrey she is heartbroken. Her aunt is dying of cancer and the story starts off really emotional from the beginning. I cried while reading the first few pages. Adam on the other hand is sort of an arse at the beginning of this one. I’m not quite sure why either. There really wasn’t any explanation as to why. After a while though he came to his senses and started acting right. 😉
Better was a really fast read for me. I was able to finish relatively quickly. The story just captured my attention from the first page and held it until the very end. I loved the plot, the characters, and experiencing the journey they were on. And when the ending came I think Ms Heywood nailed it. I was happy with the way things ended for Aubrey and Adam. It just felt right.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one and I hope you’ll give it a try. This is a story that will definitely get you thinking about life.
