Avery has just met her hot upstairs neighbor. He's irresistible. Tattooed. And a virgin.

Nursing student Avery Michaels wants nothing to do with dating—she's perfectly happy single. Privy to too many of her mother's bad decisions and even worse taste in boyfriends, all Avery can handle is a string of uncomplicated hookups whenever the mood strikes.

When she meets smoking hot tattoo artist Bennett, she wants him—for just one night. But he won't accept a no-strings-attached arrangement. He lives by a straight-laced code of values based on his own troubled upbringing.

Bennett sees something special in Avery and he wants more from her. Way more. As Avery wrestles with her emotions for Bennett, danger and tragedy force them to open up to each other. And Avery must face the terrifying realization that she wants more from him, too.

So she needs to make a choice—let Bennett go or finally let him in.

My thoughts…

I loved this one. The synopsis grabbed my attention and I couldn’t wait to start reading.

Avery and Bennett are alike in some ways and different in others. Both have had shitty home life’s. Their mothers weren’t very good role models, but what makes them different is how they handle themselves. Where Avery has to be in control of all aspects of her life including sexual partners, Bennett doesn’t have sex. Period. He’s a virgin and is holding out for love. I’m thinking this is the first story I’ve read where the hero is a virgin. This aspect drew me in and I wanted to find out why he was in fact still a virgin.

Avery takes a guy home for the night of sex and then quickly boots them out the door after. She doesn’t form attachments. Her mother taught her that. Her mom goes through guys like she drinks water. Always looking for another guy to hang on too. Not Avery though. She’s not the relationship / commitment type.

The mutual attraction between these two is strong when they first meet each other. Avery wants Bennett, but Bennett isn’t going to just hop into bed with her. As the story progresses the tension between these two get stronger and stronger. I wanted them to come together, but I wanted it to happen because they both wanted more than just a sexual fling. I think in a lot of ways these two were good for each other.

The author adds a little bit of suspense to this story. I’m surprised I didn’t figure it out before all was revealed. I usually pretty good at figuring things out, but I was so focused on Bennett and Avery that it sort of took a back seat.

Even though Avery and Bennett don’t have sex things do get heated between them. I’m not saying that they eventually don’t have sex, but the foreplay is pretty steamy. 🙂

Overall, I loved this one. There is going to be a book two, but don’t worry this one doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. You’ll get to read Ella’s story next. I’m hoping Rachel will get her own story as well.
