Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she' s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....
It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she' s been making decisions based on what' s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly.
But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.
Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo' s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo' s secrets even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.
My thoughts…
I really enjoyed this one. At first I was a little mad though. I did NOT like the hero at all. I found him to be extremely rude. Some of the things he said to the heroine was downright hateful at times. I couldn’t quite figure out why he had such a strong negative reaction to her. I know that later on in the book things are revealed a little bit concerning that, but for the majority of the book I was like seriously WTF. I almost stopped reading this one a few times but stuck it out. In the end I’m really glad I did. The storyline is quite good and when Cam started behaving I really started to enjoy it.
Jo. She was a secondary character in On Dublin Street and I was happy to get the opportunity to get to know her and read her story. I liked her. It’s apparent right away that she doesn’t have a very strong opinion of herself. A lot of that has to do with how she grew up. How her parents treated her. I felt bad for her and all that she had experienced in her life. She’s forced to take care of her younger brother because her drunken mother isn’t able too. She doesn’t look at him as a burden at all. She wants him to grow up feeling loved. She wants what’s best for him. She works two jobs to make that happen.
Cameron aka Cam. As I stated above I did not like the guy at all in the beginning of this one. I believe I called him a few different names within my status updates on Goodreads while reading this one. Eventually I came around to liking him. He had a lot to make up for where Jo was concerned in my opinion.
Upon seeing each other for the first time the attraction between Jo and Cam is apparent. They are strongly attracted to each other, but both of them are seeing other people so they don’t act on it. It was interesting to see how things played out between the two of them. In the end I was happy they got together. I think together they made a great couple once they got over their insecurities.
The sexual content in this one was hot. Not quite as hot as the scenes in On Dublin Street, but hot nevertheless. There is quite a bit of it once you get to a certain point in the book.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Next up is Olivia and Nate’s book. They are both new secondary characters that were introduced in Down London Road. I can’t wait to read their story and get to know them better.
