Commitment. That' s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin' s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn' t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny' s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can' t keep living this double life.
I love him desperately, but he' s got so many demons, and if he can' t open up to me now, then he' ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I' m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.
My thoughts…
I have mixed feelings about this one. I liked it, but there seemed to be a lot of going back and forth between both Colin and Jen. Sort of a “I want you now” but “I won’t let myself have you” kind of thing. After a while I found myself skimming a bit. I wouldn’t say I got bored because I didn’t. I just wished they would have acted upon their attraction sooner.
I really liked both Colin and Jen in previous books. I thought together they would make a great couple. They just needed to get their act together and make it happen.
Colin. He’s a protector. He promised Jen’s brother that he would always look out for her. I think this is the main reason he fights his attraction to her. He’s referred to as somewhat of a player. I didn’t really get that vibe from him. Not really.
Jen. I found Jen a bit naive and irresponsible. She wants to be self sufficient. To be able to take care of herself, but has had a hard time of it in the past. She’s did things in her past that’s she not proud of and hopes Colin never finds out about them.
The attraction and chemistry between Colin and Jen is strong. The tension is thick. When they finally come together it is hot. The sexual scenes are not only hot, but well written and plentiful.
Overall, I liked this story. Maybe not as much as books one and two, but I enjoyed it. Up next is Fable’s brother Owen’s book. It’s entitled Four Years Later and will be released February 25, 2014.
